Road trip Part 1...Pittsburgh!

It seems like so long ago that we made our way across the country. It was exactly one month ago today that we closed on our house...I can barely believe it myself!

Our first stop on our road trip was back home to the 'burg. We squeezed in a little bit of time with as much family and friends as possible over the 5 days that we were there! It never seems like there are enough hours in the day when we visit everyone!

I was very bad about taking pictures and I only took a few but here it what I came up with. I had to make sure to throw in a picture of the cats Benny and Bug-Z because they are so cute!

Bad hair days.

I miss my old job for many reasons. The people that I worked with, the clients/brides that I grew to love, my boss, interesting people, the crazy homeless people, being downtown and lunch with my work buddies are just a few of the things that I have missed. Most importantly, I miss my hair product discount and my free hair services.

When I was in Chicago last week (blog post to come soon), I tagged along with my friend Martha to her hair appointment and decided to join in the fun! It was so strange and a bit scary, having someone else cut my hair (I’m sorry Rodney) but she did a pretty good job! I haven't gotten a new color yet because I cannot spend hundreds of dollars on hair color while we are still buying furniture. We also just put our first mortgage payment in the mail yesterday so hair color is the low man on the totem pole…

If you see me anytime soon, please try not to focus on the severe roots that I have. It is a sad day when a girl can’t get her hair colored. Boxed color from WalMart, here I come!

I wanted to share a few pictures of my favorite people back at Andre Chreky! If you are in DC, you should stop by and see Rodney for a cut and Faviola for color – it doesn’t get much better!

Slacker...

So much traveling and so little blogging. I have been fending for myself back home in CO for almost two weeks now while you know who is off in Chicago. While he has been away I made good use of my time by flying to Texas for 5 days to have an early Christmas with my mom's side of the family (pictures to come soon). I then went home for 2 days and in that 2 days I took down the wallpaper in the spare bedroom AND I shoveled the driveway and sidewalk which consisted of about 8 inches of CO snow. I now realize how hard that really is!

After the 2 days at home, I hopped back on a plane to the Windy City! I now sit here in the "business center" at a hotel in Chicago. I have no pictures to share but I wanted to let everyone now that we are still around and I will make sure to post some pictures soon!

Going away party

First, I have to thank Bobby for telling me where my camera cord was. It turns out that he knew the whole time but I never thought to ask him...oops.

I wanted to show off some of the pictures from our last night out in DC. All of Bobby's friends met at the usual "watering hole" for a double going away party. Our friend Jon will also be leaving the job so they all shed a tear together. I decided to drag along a few of the girls from work so it was one big PAR-TAY!

It was great to see everyone and we hope that we can see you all again soon!!

Hellllloooooo Colorado!

It has been 7 days with no internet...7 days of no emails (other than my blackberry), no online shopping, no weather, no online bill pay, no blogging, no blog-stalking everyone else and no possibilty of downloading pictures!

We finally got our cable, phone and internet and it seems as though I have become a lot less productive around the house (don't tell Bobby). Since we moved in we have done nothing but unpack, clean, organize and most importantly...shop for furniture. Since getting the internet back I have looked online and searched for my camera cord so that I can share my pictures with all of you. Oh yeah, still haven't found that camera cord.

I will keep up the search for the camera cord because the posts are just no fun without the pictures! I am going to try to start with pictures from our last days in DC, then our road trip across the country and finally our new house!

Happy almost Turkey Day!!

Bye Bye Bye DC...

I looked at Bobby tonight while eating our last meal (Chinese delivery) in our cute little apartment and said, "this is it...our last night here." I actually cannot believe it. I can honestly say that I am now more ready than EVER! We have been living with an apartment full of boxes for 48 hours, and that is about 48 hours too long.

We will be stopping in Pittsburgh for three days and then we hit the road, full speed ahead. DC was fun for a few years (3.5 for me, 7 for Bobby) but it is time to move on. It is time to start our new life in our new home. A home that we can actually paint, update the bathrooms, have our own walls, a garage and a backyard!

I knew today was a good day when our "landlord" came by to give us back our deposit. He said that he put it into an account where it could gain interest so I was excited to see what we would get back...then tension was mounting when he brought out his checkbook and then it all went downhill. I think he mumbled something about not getting a full 1%...1%?! Let's just say that we didn't even get an extra Andrew Jackson...so sad.

I must get back to packing...yes, packing. I feel that I need a new outfit for each of the days while we sit in the car for 7 hours. I also need several pairs of shoes because I am not sure of the weather in each part of the country. I want to be prepared for the rain, the sun, the wind, and the snow...snow? let's hope not!

Here is our apartment full of boxes...oh my.

One more week...

Tomorrow is November 3rd which is one week from moving day. One week? That can't be right! Bobby and I were just looking at all of the pictures of our new house and we still cannot believe that it is our house... OUR HOUSE!

We have been trying so hard to organize, clean, pack, throw things away all while keeping things in order. It isn't going so well. Each day the apartment gets a little messier and it seems like we acquire more things. I think we are finding things that we forget we ever had! I guess that is what to expect when you live in 650 square feet. I can't wait until the movers pick up our bed and realize how much stuff we crammed under there. I might have to take a picture of the expression on their faces! They may need another truck...oops!

We checked the weather for Colorado today and it was 75 degrees. Where is all the snow that everyone keeps mentioning to me. Here is how a typical conversation goes when someone finds out I am moving to Colorado. I say, "Yep, we are moving to Denver" then they say, "Wow, you better get some snow boots and a shovel." Is everyone trying to scare me? I get cold very easily and telling me that I need snow boots is just mean. Really, really mean.

Here we are over the summer at the WW2 memorial a few days after we found out where we would be spending the next few years of our lives!

Thumbs up for Colorado!!!

Home sweet home.

We cannot WAIT to move into this cute little house! I fell in love with it the first second we walked in the door. If the sellers would have recorded our conversation while we were there they could have bumped up the price based on my comments!

We had a few LONG days of home shopping when we arrived in CO. We arrived at 11am and by 11:45am our real estate agent picked us up and off we went. Day one consisted of 18 houses...yes, 18 houses. Let's not forget that we were awake at 3:30am and flew across the country and had a 2 hour time change. Day one was a bit rough!

Day two was a little easier. We only had about 10 house to look at and we had a better idea of what we were looking for. Unfortunately, we didn't find it.

Day three was THE day...the day that we found our FIRST house! We bumped up our budget just a bit and it changed everything! We walked into the house and it was love at first sight for me...not so much for Bobby. He had his heart set on another house that was bank owned and I just did not want to go down that road. After much discussion we decided that this WAS the best house for us! At 10pm that night we put in a low offer and waited for what seemed liked days, maybe even weeks...

1pm the next day we got the call...they accepted our offer and that was it. That gorgeous little house was ours!

We will be closing on Tuesday, November 18th so let's hope that all goes well. We will be moving out of DC on Monday, November 10th and driving to Pittsburgh for 2 days and then WEST we go! If you happen to live anywhere along Route 70 you better look out because we are coming your way!!

So it begins...

Much to Bobby's chagrin, here comes the Meg and Bobby blog. Yippee! There is so much going on with everyone and sometimes I forget to write things in an email so I figured, hey, let's start a blog! I KNOW you are all dying to see each and every step of our crazy lives so I figured this would work out best for all of us!

I will try to post as much as possible while on our way to COLORADO! Today marks the two week countdown until we leave Washington, DC. What a sad, yet happy day that will be! This IS where our "romance" began, ya' know?!
